Over 1500m, the Prize UAE President Cup Series for Colts I was the
Saturday, June 24, highlight on the turf at the Jockey Club de São Paulo
(JCSP) and was won in gritty fashion by VG Raj Al Mared with Jeane Alves, his
partner since the first race, who emerged victorious in six of the seven races
in which he competed.
The animals started in a group, but VG Raj Al Mared and Obstinado Rach
battled for first place until the entry of the entry to the final stretch being
followed by Clapton AJR.
Jeane Alves gave the horse a little more breath and VG Raj Al Mared (Mared
Al Sahra x Daughter of Just HVP by FA El Shawan) responded immediately and took the lead with a length over Obstinado Rach; while Clapton AJR (Mared Al Sahra x Cowboys Gal by Wiking) ridden by Idevaldo Silva advances outside and pairs with Alves and Raj. The two sons of Mared Al Sahra have five wins in six races in which they have participated and are fighting an exciting battle for the first place in the UAE President Cup Series Award for Colts I, held on June 24 at Hippodrome of Cidade Jardim, Jockey Club de São Paulo, and organized by the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association. Ridden by Jeane Alves since his debut, when he won by 24 ½ lengths and with two records in the 1400 meters on turf and 1500 meters on dirt, VG Raj Al Mared masterfully takes first place in the race with a ½ length advantage over Clapton AJR , who fought bravely to the finish line. Known as an iron fist, Jeane Alves became the first woman to win the São Paulo Grand Prix, the main race in São Paulo and the second main race in Brazil; and the only woman in the racing world to beat the stats twice. After the race she told us: “This victory is very special because first I competed with Obstinado Rach and then I was attacked by Clapton AJR until the end, but as I train and ride VG Raj Al Mared since he arrived at JCSP I knew that he would not let me down and we got another victory.” Coach Thiago Haidar commented: “Another brilliant race with an exciting duel between Clapton AJR and VG Raj Al Mared. And once again Raj won with his half-brother in second. With the increase in distance, Clapton had an excellent race and the two animals showed that they are the stars of this season. I want to thank all of our team and Dr. Henrique Garcia for the veterinary care.” Bred and owned by José Carlos Vaz Guimarães (Haras Bluegrass), VG Raj Al Mared is part of the new generation of Brazilian Arabian race horses with a promising future and the ability to participate in any major race in the world. “First of all I want to thank our trainer Thiago Haidar and Jeane Alves who accepted our invitation to train and ride Raj since he arrived at the Jockey Club of São Paulo. It was an exciting race until the end and we believed we would win, but we always had a lot of respect for Clapton because we knew he was our great opponent”, declared José Caio Vaz Guimarães from Haras Bluegrass. Seven-year-old gray with six wins, Mahatma Rach (Sarmata x Magic All
Rach by Ulisses Rach), two-time champion of the Wathba Stallions Cup for
Colts (2021 and 2022), was third followed by RG El Bak (RG Karat vs *Endora
by Wojslaw) with four wins under his belt and Wathba Stallions Cup for Colts
champion in May 2022.
In fifth place was Obstinado Rach (Atentaddo Rach x Obsession Rach by
Voltaire Rach) who has five victories, one of them with Jorge Ricardo, world
record holder for race victories; and in sixth place Hallmarck Rach (Bismarck
Rach x Havella Rach by Pavel Rach) with two victories also conquered with
Jorge Ricardo.
Almir José Ribeiro, Racing Director for the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian
Association (ABCCA) said: “It was the great start of our UAE President Cup
South America Mondial Brazil season, and it couldn’t be any different. A race
with our best animal’s active in Brazil that has simply topped our statistics
for the last three years.”

The Prize UAE President Cup Series for Colts I was organized by the Arabian
Horse Breeders Brazilian Association in partnership with the Jockey Club of
São Paulo.
