The four-year-old gray Ômega Rach, once again ridden by Ruberlei Viana, wins the Grand Prix UAE President Cup Series for Colts and achieves his second victory in the races that are part of the UAE President Cup South America Mondial Brazil, being the first on August 31.
The race was contested over 1400 meters on turf for 3-years-old and older and was held at the Cidade Jardim Hipódromo, at the Jockey Club of São Paulo, organized by the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association (ABCCA).
After a fierce dispute between Passionaddo Rach and Cromo D’Jok Trio until the entrance of the final straight, Õmega Rach, who was in third, started attacking from the inside and took the lead of the race, easily distancing himself from the other competitors, winning the Grand Prix with 5 ½ lengths of advantage and a time of 1:34.974.
Meanwhile, RG El Bak, ridden by Idevaldo Silva, increases the pace and at-tacks from the inside, taking second place and maintaining it until the end, followed by Passionaddo Rach driven by Jeffecleone Bispo.
Breeder and owner Ricardo Jamil Saliba, from Rach Stud, reflected emotionally on Omega Rach’s victory: “This was his third victory and it’s been a week of mixed feelings, as we lost his mother, Orchestra Rach, our best racing mare at the moment. This victory is a tribute to her, who is also the mother of other exceptional animals. Orchestra was the best mare of the year in racing in 2016 and won the most valuable race of the year.”
“Both Passamarie and Ômega Rach are products of winning mares, which consecrates a second generation of winning racing animals from Rach Stud, which is a source of great pride for all of us”, emphasized Saliba.
Trainer Lucas Quintana praised the winner’s performance: “Ômega Rach lived up to our expectations, ran very well and won with confidence. He is the son of Orchestra Rach, with whom we won some races. I won Grand Prix with Passion, Orchestra, Passamarie and today with Ômega and I couldn’t be happier. He whispered in my ears during training that he would win.”
It is already a trademark of trainer Quintana, when asked before the races who will win, he says which animal will win, as he whispered in his ear that he would win the race.
