Egypt, Al-Jazira Sports Club racetrack 19 October 2024
The 12th stage of the President of the UAE Cup Series for Purebred Arabian Horses took place at the Al Jazeera Sports Club racetrack in Cairo, marking the 31st edition of this prestigious series. The event saw the participation of 55 competitors. Distinguished guests included H.E. Salah Al Saadi, Deputy Ambassador of the UAE in Cairo, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports; Mr. Felix Youssef Sarhan, Chairman of the Egyptian Supreme Horse Racing Authority and Mr. Saeed Al Muhairi, representative of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the President’s Cup for Arabian Horses.

Held at the historic Al Jazeera Club, the Cairo round also saw full participation from the club’s board of directors and was supported and directed by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of the Presidential Court, reflecting his great interest in developing the Arabian horse racing industry and supporting Arabian horse owners and breeders.


The main event, the fourth race, saw “Bariq Al Amal” ridden by jockey Kareem Tariq win the 1600-meter race in a time of 2:03, comfortably ahead of last year’s winner Monadel Safwan, both representing Saffan Stables. Fahd Al-Amin claimed third place. This was followed by a trophy presentation to the winning connections.


Salah Al Saadi, Deputy Ambassador of the UAE in Cairo, expressed his pleasure at Egypt hosting the 12th stage of the 31st edition of this renowned competition. He thanked the Supreme Horse Racing Authority for the excellent organization and management of the 12th edition under the patronage of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports. Al Saadi noted that the 12th stage has a special flavor because it is held in the brotherly state of Egypt and reflects the UAE’s belief in the great importance of developing the Arabian horse racing industry and supporting Arabian horse owners and breeders worldwide.

Saeed Al Muhairi, representative of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the President’s Cup for Arabian Horses, emphasized that Egypt hosting the 12th stage of this prestigious event holds special importance. He pointed out that this year’s edition is different, showing noticeable progress in performance, effectiveness, and quality of organization, especially since Al Jazeera Club is one of the oldest clubs with a history in horse racing. He added that there was a large audience turnout to watch the competitors at the Al Jazeera track and thanked the winners after a very fierce competition.
