Brazil, Cidade Jardim Hippodrome 17 August 2024
In a highly contested race, the tordilla mare Passamarie Rach, making her debut on the São Paulo turf, clinched the Wathba Stallions Cup for Colts & Fillies IV Award. The event was over a 1,000-meter grass track at the Jockey Club of São Paulo. This exclusive race for Arabian horses featured seven participants, all three years old or older, without previous victories, including four debutants at the Cidade Jardim Hippodrome.
Passamarie Rach, a daughter of Mared Al Sahra and Passion Rach, crossed the finish line with a time of 1:06.310 under the skilled guidance of jockey R. Viana. She secured the victory by a mere half a head ahead of the second-place finisher, Cromo D’Jok Trio, ridden by jockey D. Novais. The race was fiercely competitive until the final meters, with Stud Brasil Gávea and jockey Jeane Alves taking third place.
“The highlight of the race was undoubtedly the fantastic performance of the rookies,” said Ricardo Saliba from Rach Stud. “Passamarie, who won, and the second-placed horse from Haras Trio, both participated for the first time at the Jockey Club. We must congratulate their performances. It’s also important to highlight the third place, another rookie, marking the first race for a product of Haras Stud Brasil.”
Saliba emphasized the significance of the genetics of Passamarie Rach and the other podium finishers. “Passamarie is the daughter of Passion Rach, a mare who won a Group 1 race six years ago and had already produced a winning offspring. This victory demonstrates the consistency of her pedigree and maternal line. In the race, we had three animals with a lineage mixed with European racehorses, showcasing the evolution of Arabian breed races in Brazil.”
The Wathba Stallions Cup for Colts & Fillies IV Award, promoted by the Brazilian Association of Arabian Horse Breeders (ABCCA) in partnership with the Jockey Club of São Paulo, distributed over R$ 10,000 in prizes to the top five finishers, highlighting the growing relevance of Arabian horse racing on the national scene.
