The first 3-year-old Arabian race in the United States took place at Sam Houston Race Park in Texas on Friday, marking a significant milestone in Arabian horse racing. The race saw AA Burning Oasis emerge victorious in the 5-furlong maiden contest, winning by an impressive 4 1/2 lengths
A Promising Lineage
AA Burning Oasis, a chestnut colt, is the first foal to race out of the dam Hanna CW. Hanna CW transitioned from flat racing to endurance racing, achieving notable victories in the Moab Canyons Pioneer 50-Mile Endurance Ride in 2008 and the Eastern Mojave Scenic Pioneer 50-Mile Endurance Ride in 2009 with Christoph Schork .
Breeding and Ownership
Bred in Colorado by Altitude Arabians, AA Burning Oasis is sired by the leading racing sire Burning Sand. The colt is owned by Andre and trained by Nicole Ruggeri. Jockey Jose Alvarez rode AA Burning Oasis to victory, showcasing the colt’s potential and the team’s dedication.

Sam Houston Race Park will continue to be a hub for Arabian racing, with entries being taken on Saturday for the next American race for 3-year-olds—the Wathba Stallions Cup. This race, open to maidens aged 3 to 6 years old, will be held over 5 1/2 furlongs on April 6.
