ABBES Triumphs in Historic Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Jewel Crown at Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club

At the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club’s grandest meeting of the season, the spotlight was on the prestigious 2200m Group 1 AED5 million Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Jewel Crown. ABBES emerged as the champion, outpacing the competition, notably MUTBAHY ATHBAH, and clocking the fastest time (2:24:22) since the distance extension in 2020.
This triumph marked a historic milestone for trainer Alban de Mieulle, who became the first to secure victory on both the 1600m and 2200m tracks, replicating his success from 2015 with Kalino. Wathnan Racing, the owners, celebrated a notable win following an unfortunate outing in the Dubai Kahayla Classic last season. Jockey Mickael Barzalona displayed his class, solidifying his reputation as a top-class rider in UAE races.
In the main support race, the 1600m Group 3 Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan National Day Cup witnessed a comprehensive victory by HM JALFANE (FR) (DAHESSxAl Musck). Owned by Ghanim Ali Majid Al Maamari, trained by Hussein Al Senaidi, and skillfully ridden by Amur Al Rasbi, the win marked a memorable triumph for the connections.”
