In his first race over 1,600m on dirt, for males and females for 3-year-old
and older, Clapton AJR confirmed that he inherited from his father Mared Al
Sahra, Group 1 winning producer, all the stamina and desire to race when he
won the Prize UAE President Cup Mondial – Brazil at Cidade Jardim
Hippodrome.
With a strong attack by Obstinado Rach (Atentaddo VE x Obsession Rach by
Voltaire Rach) under the leadership of Ruberlei Viana, who dominated the
race up to 800 meters, jockey Antonio Mesquita requested and Clapton AJR
(Mared Al Sahra x Cowboys Gal by Wiking) responded to your command and
takes the lead.
He won with great firmness and tranquility under the confident command
of Mesquita and maintains his superiority, crossing the finish with 10 ¾
lengths of advantage and becoming the only one with two victories on a sand
track.
Another standout of the race was five-year-old brown RG El Bak (RG Karat x
*Endora by Wojslaw). Under the impeccable driving of Idevaldo Silva, he
battled throughout the race and won second place in the last few meters,
when he brilliantly overtook Obstinado Rach.
Jockey Antonio Mesquita commented: “Today we ran a mile and he has
improved a lot after the last race. I started with the certainty that we would
win and in the middle of the race I was sure of the victory and it was just
managing.”
Trainer Oberdan Pereira said: “Clapton AJR is a fantastic horse because in
the sand he runs a lot and in today’s race he was superior to everyone. He is
an animal that will still give us many joys and victories.”
“We won the sixth race and we have three second places in nine races and
a performance beyond expectations. Clapton AJR has demonstrated that he
loves to run and as the distances increase he shows his full potential”, said
breeder and owner Almir José Ribeiro.
Once again, Rach Stud Agropecuária is the breeder with the most animals
on the track, in addition to being the largest breeder with the most horses in
all races held in Brazil since 2013.
Racing Director of the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association, Almir
José Ribeiro said: “First of all I want to thank once again our sponsors who
believed in Arabian horse racing in Brazil, HH Sh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al
Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab
Emirates, Minister of the Presidential Court and President of the Emirates
Racing Authority; and HE Faisal Al Rahmani, President of the International
Arabian Horse Racing Federation (IFAHR) and Director General of the UAE
President Cup.”
Ribeiro added: “We are in the fourth year of sponsorship and with more
than 30 races held in the UAE President Cup South America Mondial Brazil.
We have veteran animals competing at greater distances and a new
generation for 2024 that has already arrived at the Jockey Club of São Paulo
and should debut from October of this year.”
“We completed 10 years of Arabian racing in Brazil and we are hopeful
with this new generation and we will certainly have new champions who will
continue to build the history of Arabian racing horses in Brazil.”
In addition to the awards during the races, all horses participating in the
2023 Racing Calendar also compete in the Arabian Cup 2023 Race category
promoted by the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association.
The UAE President Cup Mondial – Brazil Award is organized by the Arabian
Horse Breeders Brazilian Association in partnership with the Jockey Club of
São Paulo.
