Pisa 5 November 2023
8th Moutai Cup (condition) for Arabians 4 years and above. Distance 2200M
The eighth edition of the Cup, in the past, won only by Tintu di Gallura in 2016 and by Antares del Ma in 2020, has taken the road… of the Netherlands with the success of Zubeya, trained by Karin van den Bos for Landgoed Waterland. The unbeaten Dubainulese was the leader of the race, with Zubeya, Dumas and Aunar de Piné behind the leaders. On the home straight, Zubeya moved to the middle of the track ahead of Dumas and Aunar de Piné: at the distance he broke Dubainulese’s resistance and in the final stages he contained Dumas’ finish, while Aunar de Piné overtook Dubainulese by a little. Only fifth was the other foreign guest Nil Adamis, winner of the race in 2022A curiosity: Zubeya competed in just the third race of her career (she made her debut in Pisa in November 2011, placing 2nd, and subsequently returned to the track only in April 2022 in Duindigt, with a 4th place) despite already being 6 years old. Like van den Bos’ other horses, she was inactive during her trainer’s stop for doping, a period in which the Dutchwoman became a holistic therapist. Zubeya had Gavino Sanna in the saddle, who had already played it in his Pisan debut.
